ABOUT ME
Welcome to the world of art through the eyes of a retired art teacher with a passion for capturing the essence of animals. With a 35-year career teaching at various colleges, I have devoted my life to nurturing the creative spirit in others. I had my professional education at the Kunstacademie in Tilburg and this cultivated my understanding and appreciation of art.
Beyond the classroom, I was a co-author of several educational books on the history of art and its cultural significance. This has allowed me to share my knowledge and enthusiasm with a wider audience, bridging the gap between academia and the art-loving community.
When it comes to my own artistic expressions, I find inspiration in drawing animals of all kinds. Using my iPad, I predominantly work in a graphical style, exploring the intricate nuances of black and white. However, I also like to add occasional a splash of colour into my creations. What really matters to me is capturing the character and essence of my subjects.
Influenced by the graphical work of Rembrandt and the beauty of Japanese prints, my art is imbued with a fusion of traditional techniques and contemporary digital tools. I like the idea of mixing in this way my appreciation for art history while using the possibilities of the digital age. I really think great artists in the past would have embraced the possibilities that now exist.
I invite you to explore my portfolio whether you are an art enthusiast, an animal lover, or simply seeking a glimpse into the world of graphical art.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you enjoy your journey through my art.
